Here at Karibu Anawim we choose to use the term disfigurement as it relates to the 'spoiling of appearance of something or someone'. It is also the current preferred medicalised term. The word difference relates to a point or way that things are dissimilar. Everyone's face is different this is a part our uniqueness. All faces are asymmetrical and unbalanced (except for Brad Pitt). Not everyone's face is disfigured.
We acknowledge not everyone will feel comfortable with the word disfigurement, let us know what words you prefer as we offer personalised support which includes using terminology you identify with.
