People living with facial disfigurement are often stared at, avoided, seen to be
intellectually impaired, have less friends, and are viewed by the media as either evil (most villains have a facial scar to depict them as dangerous) or inspirational depending on the 'severity' of the facial disfigurement.
Sometimes it is difficult to find the right words. Other times, it is hard to know what to say. Sometimes we know we speak words of advice, which comes with good intentions, only to be taken badly and us unaware of why.
Living with facial disfigurement is difficult. Living alongside a loved one who has a facial disfigurement can often be difficult for several reasons.
When you are out and about with your loved one living with facial disfigurement, do you feel people:

These and more are common experiences that significant others and family of people living with facial disfigurement experience. It ought not to be. But sadly it is.
