Employer
We want the right person in the right job. We all have unknown bias and feel more comfortable around people we feel an instant ‘liking’ to. When it comes to hiring others, we want the people we employ to embody our values and project a ‘good face’ for our organisation.
People living with facial disfigurement according to research are the least preferred candidate. They find themselves bullied/harassed by other employees and career progression is less likely. This is unfair and needs to be changed.
Help is available. Here at Karibu Anawim, we advocate for hiring people living with facial disfigurement. We support employers and employees understand and accept people living with facial disfigurement can be of great benefit to the organisation, become terrific colleagues and have strengths that would not necessarily be found in hiring others.
